Col. David Fuller
Do you wish to be a part of the best Youth Organisation in the country?

If so then read on and find out what makes Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force tick .....

Message from the Commandant, Colonel David Fuller:

The Army Cadet Force - what does that mean to you? Well it is an organisation for young people from the age of 13 to 18 to enjoy and experience which will stand them in good stead for the rest of their life and on the way give them experiences never to be forgotten.

Our cadets participate in a wide variety of exciting activities which range from exactly what you would expect from the name (we deliver what it says on the outside of the tin!), military exercises which includes living in the field, shooting - both on full bore and small bore ranges where we will teach you to shoot safely and accurately, camping, adventurous training which could be anywhere in this country or indeed the world - in recent years our cadets have participated in expeditions in Canada, Nepal and South Africa to name but a few, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, First Aid, BTec, (we aim to offer all our cadets the opportunity to gain real qualifications which will be useful in the outside world such as the latter three), sports - we participate in a range of sports for both boys and girls including soccer, hockey, rugby, swimming, cross country, orienteering and Tug of War. This is only a flavour of what our cadets can be involved in, and of course if the cadets are involved you can be sure that our Officers and Adult Instructors are right there with them ensuring that the activities are carried out safely and importantly to make the events FUN for the cadets!

We have 52 detachments across the county which stretches from Bridlington in the North East to Sheffield in the South West and Cleethorpes in the East, so there is bound to be one near to where you live. They take part in detachment and Company weekend training and all cadets have the opportunity to attend either Junior Camp usually at Easter or Senior Camp for two weeks in the summer at a Training Camp which could be anywhere in the UK. These two weeks are a hive of activity and the cadets invariably return with many tales to tell of exercises, sports, climbing, Watermanship or other fun filled days and many return for year after year until they reach the leaving age.

Some of our cadets do join the Armed Forces but I stress we are not a recruiting organisation and whilst we will encourage an interest in the forces there is no pressure to join. Other of our senior cadets return as Adult Instructors and without them we would not have the happy, vibrant organisation we have in the county. As an ex cadet I can speak with some inside knowledge of what it means to be part of the Army Cadet Force and can say that the many years I have been involved have given me great satisfaction in achieving as a cadet and knowing that as an instructor I have given something back to the young people of the county, and assisted them in becoming better citizens.

Still interested? Phone today, on 01377 253548 or click here >>> and find out where your nearest Detachment is located so that you can be involved with over 1700 other Army Cadets in Humberside and South Yorkshire.
